Sports Books gamblers are asking themselves if this is finally the season that South Carolina under head coach Steve Spurrier is a major force in the SEC. 
The Gamecocks have never actually lived up to move forward billing despite the fact that they’ve got been touted as contenders before in the SEC. The probabilities at the online sports books post South Carolina as 75-1 long shots to win the national title this season but Spurrier has said this is the top group of athletes he has ever had at South Carolina.

Since they haven’t yet been a power under Spurrier, South Carolina is actually not given that much of a shot to win the SEC. The Gamecocks were only 7-6 last season and that’s been the usual for South Carolina under Spurrier. The Gamecocks are only a slightly above average team. Spurrier is not used to managing mediocrity but that’s been the case with South Carolina.
This season, South Carolina will have their chance to make their mark in the SEC. Since the schedule sets up well for them, this could finally be the year for the Gamecocks. They should beat Southern Mississippi in their home starter on September second in a competition that can be seen on ESPN. They then host Georgia in another match they’re capable of winning. They then are going to be anticipated to rout Furman before their 1st road test of the season at Auburn. If they can find a way to win that match they could be undefeated for a huge home match versus Alabama in early October. The problem for South Carolina vs the online sports books probabilities is that they still would need to win at Florida later in the season which is extremely difficult to do. A road match to end the season at Clemson is not going to be easy either.
The opportunity for a big year and winning sports lines is there but there are plenty of land mines out there looking at South Carolina’s schedule. South Carolina has not shown the capacity to win persistently versus the top teams and the SEC is the hardest conference in college football. A division title could be just out of reach though a winning history is likely for Spurrier this season.
